Everything you need to know about this topic.
A 4-year-old generally needs 10 to 13 hours of total sleep in a 24-hour period. This total may include a daytime nap, although many children begin giving up regular naps around this age. Children who no longer nap often need an earlier bedtime to receive enough overnight sleep. A typical schedule might include bedtime between 7:00 and 8:30 p.m., depending on the required wake-up time. The correct schedule is one that allows your child to wake comfortably and remain alert throughout the day. If your child regularly falls asleep in the car, struggles with behavior late in the afternoon or is very difficult to wake, they may need more rest. Persistent snoring or restless sleep deserves medical attention.
