Everything you need to know about this topic.
A 10-year-old generally needs between 9 and 12 hours of sleep each night. Many children this age need about 9.5 to 10.5 hours to feel fully rested. Increasing homework, sports and screen use can make bedtime drift later, so families may need to protect sleep time deliberately. If a child needs to wake at 6:30 a.m., a bedtime that allows them to be asleep by around 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. may work well. Exact needs vary. A child who wakes comfortably and remains focused throughout the day is probably receiving enough sleep. If mornings are consistently difficult or your child is moody, sleepy or unfocused, try moving bedtime earlier in 15-minute steps.
